The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta was established on January 1, 1988, by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a specialized University of Agriculture. It has a land area of 10,200 hectares and it is located in Odeda Local Government Area in the North-Eastern part of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The University has the mandate of teaching, research, and community engagement. The University currently has a population of about 16,000 Undergraduate students, 1,500 Postgraduate students, and about 2, 500 Academic and Non-Teaching staff.
The 2022 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) recently released, featured FUNAAB within the 201 to 300 group in Veterinary Sciences thereby ranking her as the best in Africa. The University has over the past 34 years of its existence, successfully established institutional linkages to foster collaboration for training, research, and development, among which were several projects funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fulbright Fellowships programme, British Council Education Partnerships in Africa, African Technology Policy Studies Network, just to mention but a few. The University is host to a World Bank Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE) and recently won a TETFund Centre of Excellence for Cassava and Poultry Innovation (CAPI).
In accordance with the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No. 11 of 1993 as amended in 1996, 2003, and 2012, the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria (FUNAAB) wishes to commence the process of appointment of the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor. Consequently, applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position below:

Roles/Responsibilities
- The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and shall exercise general supervision of the University.
- He/she shall be responsible to the Governing Council for the day-to-day management of the human, financial and material resources of the University.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor FUNAAB should possess a good University education with a track record of successful management of human and material resources. The candidate should also have the following qualities and qualifications:
- Must possess a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) and be a distinguished scholar of the rank of Professor, with a minimum of ten years on that level and demonstrable ability to provide academic and administrative leadership
- Must be a person of impeccable character and integrity and must not be more than the age of 65 years as at the date of assumption of office
- Must have a proven record of national, and international acknowledgment by academic communities through collaborations and peer-reviewed scientific publications
- Must possess proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Must have the ability to foster unity and progress among all stakeholders, including, students, staff, alumni, and the host communities
- Must enjoy excellent physical and mental health; must have the ability to attract resources for the much-needed development of the University, and the successful candidate must be available to resume duty on 3rd April 2023.
Terms & Conditions of Service
- The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment. The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellors in Federal Universities in Nigeria, and as may be determined from time to time by the Government/Governing Council.
