Valentine’s day is here again and most persons are happy about it without understanding the meaning of valentine’s day. Is it What Celebrating? Why are we celebrating valentine’s day.
What love have we shown to humanity ever since we’ve started hearing of valentine?
Valentine’s day is to show love, is it only our intimate once should we show love to?
Is valentine for drinking, sharing of mere gifts, wasting of time and money, having closer intimacy with your partner.
What do you know or understand about this day called VALENTINE’S DAY
According to fact gathered, Valentine’s Day is named after a man called Saint Valentine, who was a Catholic priest and lived in Rome in the 3rd Century. There are many stories about St Valentine and over time these stories grew into the legend we know today.
According to some sources is actually two distinct historical characters who were said to have healed a child while imprisoned and executed by decapitation.
The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Still others insist that it was Saint Valentine of Terni, a bishop, who was the true namesake of the holiday. He, too, was beheaded by Claudius II outside Rome.
A man who was put to death because he performed marriages for lover in time past, is being celebrate, but a woman who stopped the killing of twins (Mary Mitchell Slessor), is she celebrated like this today.

This event of valentine’s day happened in Rome long time ago, but is been celebrated mostly by Africans (especially Nigeria), but the one that happened in Africa, Nigeria precisely is kept under the bed in darkness.
Is Valentine’s day worth celebrating or not.
