Job Title 1: Laboratory Technologist / Laboratory Scientist

Qualifications

  • Applicants for these positions should possess first degrees (not below Second-Class Upper Division) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology from recognized national and international universities, with not less than 2 years of cognate experience, especially in institutions of higher learning.

Job Title 2: Library Officer

  • Applicant must possess Higher National Diploma in Library Studies or equivalent professional qualification.

Job Title: Graduate / Research Assistant

Qualification

  • A good Bachelor’s Degree (with a minimum Second Class Upper Division). This is a training position and complete their Master’s degree within two years of their appointment.

Job Title 3: Lecturer II

  • Applicant for this post should normally possess a good first degree (not below Second class) and a PhD degree in the relevant field with teaching and research experience in a recognised national or international University or comparable institution of higher learning.

Job Title 7: Senior Accountant

  • A minimum of a good HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance or equivalent from a recognized Polytechnic or University;

Job Title 10: University Librarian

Location: Imo

Job Descriptions

  • In accordance with the UAES, the University Librarian is a Principal Officer, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and coordination of All Library Services in the University.
  • The University Librarian is a member of the University Management Committee.
  • As an Academic Staff, the University Librarian will be required to provide both academic and administrative leadership to staff members in the University Library

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants for the post of University Librarian, UAES should possess:
  • Ph.D. in Library Science or related field with fifteen (15) years University experience;
  • Possession of several scholarly publications, administrative experience and ability to provide academic leadership;
  • Candidate must have served for NOT less than five (5) years at the level of Deputy University Librarian in a University or headed a library of comparable institution;
  • Advanced Knowledge of ICTis mandatory;
  • Membership of relevant professional association is mandatory.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must not be above the age of Fifty-nine (59) years by October 2020.
  • Vision Statement: Candidate must provide a Vision Statement of not more than 500 words relating to the University in his 5-year tenure with particular reference to the administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

  • In consonance with the UAES Law 2020, the appointment of University Librarian is for a single term of five [5] years respectively.

Job Title 11: Assistant Registrar (for Council Matters, Senate, Personnel / HR, Admissions and Exams & Records)

Qualifications

  • A good first degree (not below Second-Class Division) preferably in the Humanities, Law, Social Sciences or Management Science from a recognized national or international university, plus at least ten (10) years relevant post- qualification cognate experience, or Master’s degree with six (6) years of cognate experience.

Job Title 12: Higher Library Officer

  • Applicant must have relevant first degree (at least SecondClass Division) in Library Science from a recognized national or international university, in addition to being proficient in computer applications in library services.

Job Title 13: Deputy Bursar

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Applicants for this position should possess: A good first degree in Accountancy with 10 years post qualification experience;
  • A Professional recognized Accountancy Qualifications plus ICAN, ACA, ACCA, ACMA, ANAN; and must be able to demonstrate ability to formulate and implement financial policies and produce manuals of accounting procedure in relation to an international university.
  • The Deputy Bursar shall be required to possess skills in financial reporting, treasury management, business planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cost controls, tax planning/management and advanced knowledge of accounting software.
  • Candidates who possess FCA, MBA or M.Sc. in relevant discipline will have obvious advantage.

Job Title 14: Deputy Librarian

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Possess a professional Degree (not below second-class division), plus PhD from a recognized national or international University in a relevant area.
  • Have at least thirteen (13) scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals, ten (10) of the publications must be in reputable international journals.
  • Hold membership of the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria.
  • Have, at least, ten (10) years cognate working experience, preferable in national or international universities.

Job Title 15: Deputy Director of Physical Planning & Works

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Possession of a B.Sc degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any other relevant degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of 2nd Class Division, plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.
  • Possession of relevant Master’s Degree (s) will be an added advantage. Possession of professionally recognized certificate(s) with current practicing license, as well as not less than fifteen (15) years of post qualification practical engineering experience.
  • In addition, the candidates must have at least eight (8) years of relevant experience in a senior management position preferably in a University ora comparable institution of higher learning or Engineering Corporate firm.
  • Registration with the COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering) or Architecture Regulation Council of Nigeria (ARGON) or Quantity Surveying Regulation Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) or Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON),Must be computer proficient with a working knowledge of relevant packages.

Job Title 16: Internal Auditor

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a good Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance or equivalent from a recognized University;
  • Possession of a professionally recognized Accounting and Finance qualifications such as ANAN, ICAN, CPA and ACCA; among relevant others.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant cognate experience, six(6) years of which should be in a University environment;
  • He/she must have reached the position of Principal Internal Auditor and has served waiting period for Chief Internal Auditor;
  • Be competent in relevant computer/ICT and other Accounting & Finance Packages.
  • Possession of relevant higher degrees or postgraduate professional qualifications in the appropriate fields (Accounting, Finance, etc) will be an added advantage.

Job Title 17: Director of Medical Services

Location: Imo

The Job

  • The Director of Medical Services has the responsibility of ensuring efficient and effective health care delivery to the entire University Community.

Qualifications

  • Possess MBBS / MB:CH.B with full registration with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria with post graduate qualification. M.Sc in Public Health and Family Medicine may be of additional advantage
  • Have at least twelve (12) year post-qualification cognate experience of which at least five (5) must be in the position of Principal Medical Officer I (PMO I) in a tertiary institution (preferably University) Health Centre.

Job Title 18: Deputy Registrar

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Applicant for this position should possess a good honours degree from a recognized institution plus twelve (12) years relevant administrative experience in a tertiary institution.
  • The possession of relevant higher degree or post-graduate professional qualification in relevant fields will be added advantage.
  • Membership of relevant professional association(s) is required, and deep knowledge of ICT in relation to registry matter is a must.

Job Title 19: Director of Works and Maintenance Services

Location: Imo

Job Requirements

  • A candidate must possess a good Honours Degree (B.Sc.) not below Second 2 Class Lower (2 ) or HND in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or Civil / Building Engineering from a recognized University or Polytechnic
  • Must be a registered member of the Council for the regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) or and other relevant professional body.
  • Such a candidate must have a valid Practicing License and should show considerable degree of competence for the running of the Department.
  • In addition, applicant must have a minimum of twelve (12) years post-graduation experience.
  • Candidate must have served in the position of Deputy Director of Works or headed Works Department of comparable Institution or similar position in other Corporate Institutions with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience on that post. Post graduate qualification (M.Sc.) will be an added advantage.

  • The salary attached to this position is CONTISS 15.

Job Title 20: University Chief Security Officer (CSO)

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Possession of, at least, first degree (not below second-class division) in any field of study;
  • Attainment of the rank of Captain in the Nigerian Army or equivalent rank in other security outfits;
  • Holding of commanding positions in the security outfit he/she served;
  • Must have been in senior military or paramilitary position for no less than 10 years.

Job Title 21: Chief Technology Innovation Officer (CTIO)

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Must possess first degree in Mathematical Sciences and at least, a Master’s degree in Information Technology, Systems Science, Computer Engineering, Change Management or related disciplines, and with not less than ten (10) years of increasingly international technical work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must have substantial managerial experience in formulating, planning, leading, directing, and controlling a complex and highly technical IT functions, preferably in a university or related organization
  • Must have experience of driving innovation and change within a University environment.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of emerging and relevant technologies, trends, methodologies, and resource management principles
  • Must have solid knowledge of network security issues.
  • Must have experience loading change in a distributed information technology environment, in addition to experience in leading IT strategic planning and managing technical teams
  • Must have ability to establish and maintain partnerships, negotiate with ITvendors and manage relationships
  • Must have wide range of in-depth technical understanding across ITdisciplines
  • Must demonstrate ability to understand the structure, operations, strategic objectives, regulatory issues and cultural environment of academia in relation to information technologies.

Job Title 22: Director of University Public Relations

Location: Imo

Qualifications

  • Applicant for this position should possess first degree in Journalism and at least, Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Mass Communication or allied disciplines, with many years of cognate experience, in addition to sound knowledge of national and international media Landscapes.
  • Possession of relevant professional qualification (s) is a must.
  • In addition, applicants must have strong knowledge and experience regarding the use of modern and relevant ICTs.

Job Title 23: Director of Physical Planning and Development

Location: Imo

Job Requirements

  • A candidate must possess a good Honours Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Town and Regional Planning or related discipline not below 2 Second Class Lower Division (2 ), from a recognized University or an HND from a Polytechnic and a Master of Science degree in Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
  • In addition, a candidate must be a registered member of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Town Planning Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC) and must have at least twelve (12) years post- graduation cognate experience.
  • A candidate must have served in the position of Deputy Director of Physical Planning or similar position with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience on that post. Such a candidates must be proficient in ICT, particularly in Computer Aided Designs and Controls.

  • The Office of University Relations and International Cooperation (URIC) is the first contact for international relations at University of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences (UAES) on University level. URIC is committed to facilitating the cooperation and exchange programs between UAES and overseas partners to develop collaboration on education, research and to enhance UAES’s global standing.
  • The office has four focal areas to better serve UAES community and visitors. The areas include International Exchange, Visiting Scholars, Dispatch and Program Administration.

The general responsibilities of the four areas are as follows:

  • Visiting Scholars is committed to better serving our international experts and scholars so that they can better facilitate our effort in internationalizing our education, research and social service and to enhance our global standing.
  • International Exchange is responsible for facilitating international communication and promoting cooperation and exchanges with universities and organizations from across the globe.
  • Dispatch focuses on helping with all the paperwork of students, staff and faculty members to go abroad for academic purposes.
  • Program Administration is responsible for the institutional financial aid and scholarship programs and students work programs

Job Title 27: Vice Chancellor

Location: Imo

The Functions

  • The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Chief Academic Officer of the University, Chairman of the Senate and member of the Governing Council.

Among his / her functions, the Vice Chancellor shall:

  • Be competent always to advice the Council on any matter affecting the policy, finance and administration of the University.
  • Be generally responsible to the Council for maintaining the efficiency and good order of the University and for ensuring the proper interpretation and enforcement of its statutes, ordinances and regulations
  • Be responsible for the discipline in the University.

Qualities of the Candidate
The Applicant must:

  • Be a Professor in a related discipline of not less than 10 years;
  • Be with advanced knowledge of computer usage and Information Technology packages.
  • Be a distinguished academic, top-notch researcher of national and international repute with a proven track record of scholarship in terms of a significant number of recognized peer-reviewed publications;
  • Not have attained the age of 60 years at the time of assumption of duty;
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities, training and preparation as a twenty-first century University administrator;
  • Be capable of driving technological innovation in teaching, learning and research
  • Be able to attract and manage research grants from both Local and International Agencies;
  • Be an astute and a prudent manager of resources;
  • Have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University in its pursuit of academic excellence that is recognized globally;
  • Be a person of strong character and ability to give courageous and effective leadership, as well as capable of inspiring the advancement of learning and reaching out to all persons without discrimination;
  • Be of sound health and pleasant disposition, high integrity, strong moral character to inspire and maintain discipline among staff and students and not been convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction or by an Administrative Panel;

Conditions of Service

  • The appointment will be for one term of five (5) years only, while salary and allowances shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in the Imo State University system and as may be determined by the Imo State Government from time to time.

Job Title 28: Registrar

Location: Imo

Preamble

  • In accordance with the University Law (2020), the Registrar is a Principal Officer and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the University except financial matters, which fall within the jurisdiction of the Bursar.
  • The Registrar is the chief administrative officer of the University and the repository of University documents / records.
  • The Registrar is an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation AND Convocation.
  • The Registrar is a member of the University Management and Head of the University Registry.
  • The candidate must be a person of proven integrity, possess high moral character, an excellent manager of human resources and a team player. He must be a person with proven leadership qualities and great inter-personal skills.
  • The job demands a person who can instill confidence in others as well as command loyalty and respect of people.
  • The person must understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of harnessing the potentials of subordinates to attain the overall goals of the University.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants for the post of Registrar, UAES should possess:
  • A good (Honours) Degree plus fifteen (15) years post qualification relevant administrative experience in University or comparable institution, with a minimum of five (5) years at the Management level;
  • Possession of relevant higher degree or postgraduate professional qualification in appropriate field(s);
  • Candidate must be competent in the use of ICT for management services;
  • Candidate must have served for NOT less than five (5) years at the level of Deputy Registrar in a University or comparable institution;
  • Membership of Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators [ANUPA] and relevant professional associations is mandatory
  • A vision and mission statement for the Registry in not more than one thousand (1000) words.

Qualities of the Candidate:

  • The candidate shall be a person of high integrity and strong moral character, and with excellent interpersonal relations.
  • The candidate must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people.
  • The candidate must fully understand the complexity of a how a University system should work and must be able to effectively utilize its human resources to attain a world class administrative system.
  • The candidate must be in good health, have advanced knowledge of ICT and must not be older than Fifty-nine (59) years at assumption of duty.
  • Also in addition, the Registrar must be able to demonstrate dynamism and wisdom when confronted with crisis or undesirable situations.

Job Title 29: University Bursar

Location: Imo

Duties of the Office

  • The University Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the University.
  • He / she will be in charge of the three broad functions of a CFO namely: Financial Controls; Treasury Management including relationships with financial institutions and Financial Planning and Budgeting.
  • He / she shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the financial affairs of the University.

Qualifications for the Post

  • University Bursar, who is the Head of the Bursary Department, should have a Bachelor of Science Degree or its equivalent in Accountancy / Finance and possess relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA or ACA or ANAN or ACMA, etc plus a minimum of 15 years post qualification cognate experience in a University or equivalent institutions.
  • The candidate should have at least (3) years’ experience at the level not below a Deputy Bursar in a University or headed Bursary of comparable Institution or a Financial Controller in a Corporate organization. Candidates who possess FCA, MBAor M.Sc. in relevant discipline will have obvious advantage
  • Candidate(s) must be ICTproficient, must be of good health and have pleasant disposition.
  • He / she must possess leadership qualities, people management skills, courageous in enforcing compliance with University Financial Regulations, dependable with unassailable integrity and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Similarly, candidates will be required to work long hours and quick in generating solutions to complex problems

Skill Requirements:
