Job Title 1: Assistant Banqueting Manager

Position Objective

  • To support the Head of Department in the operations in driving business profitability, cost management and ensure exceptional guest experience by efficiently managing assigned outlet.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage operations including product knowledge, supervisory skills, service techniques, and guest interaction
  • To attend any meetings, training sessions or courses that may be beneficial to you and your department on request from your Supervisor / Manager
  • Ensure departmental service standards are strictly adhered to at all times
  • Ensure proper handling of all operating equipment to minimize breakage or loss.
  • To be friendly and polite in front of guests at all times.
  • Assign and supervise duties to all direct reports.
  • To assist in other Food & Beverage areas if and when required.
  • Handle guest complaints / comments efficiently and promptly.
  • Ensure outlet cleaning schedules are adhered to and identify additional requirements.
  • To assist in the service of food & beverage when required.
  • Study and learn menu terminology.
  • Report for duty on time with clean attire.
  • Follow the policies and procedures introduced by the Food & Beverage department
  • Train, coach and mentor team members actively to ensure continuous skill improvement
  • Perform periodic scheduled performance reviews with all team members
  • Take disciplinary action when required in line with team member conditions of service
  • Balances working hours in accordance with needs of the outlet operations
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by your Manager or HOD.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.Sc and HND certificate. Additional Qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience as an Head Waiter or 3 years as Assistant outlet manager.
  • Experience of managing large teams.
  • Experience and knowledge with large functions.
  • Good communication skills, great leadership and organisational skills

What Will I Be Doing?

  • Hire, train, supervise, direct, coach, counsel, and evaluate staff in all beverage operations in the Hotel.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff.
  • Assign and instruct Beverage staff in details of work.
  • Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
  • Communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situation and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for Beverage staff and other hotel employees.
  • Interact with sales department personnel and restaurant staff as needed for guest service purposes.
  • Field customer complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation in order to choose the most effective solutions.
  • Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgement, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
  • Develop and implement basic operating standards for Beverage service in compliance with federal, state, local and Hilton’s own practices. (e.g. Employee Alcohol Awareness Training and Compliance)
  • Maximize restaurant department profitability; implement effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs and monitor the restaurant’s budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses.
  • Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering, retrieving and stocking product.
  • Evaluate cost effectiveness of all aspects of operation. Develop and implement cost saving and profit enhancement measures.
  • Maintain established inventory by ordering all liquor and supplies in accordance with business needs.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Minimum of B.Sc and HND certificate. Additional Qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience as an Assistant Head Waiter or Head Waiter
  • Experience of managing large teams.
  • Experience and knowledge with large functions.

  • Evaluate team members, and provide leadership and guidance to team members ensuring consistent quality and optimal economic results.

What will I be doing?

  • Plan and direct all functions of the Food & Beverage department with focus on Bars to meet the daily needs of the operation.
  • Prepare, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various food and beverage sub departments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor schedules for the operation of all food & beverage outlets to achieve a profitable result.
  • Participate in the creation and marketing of menu designs to attract a predetermined customer market.
  • Implement effective controls of food, beverage and labor costs among all the F&B outlets and monitor the food and beverage budget to ensure efficient operation and that expenditures stay within budget limitations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses.
  • Set departmental targets and objectives, work schedules, budgets, and policies and procedures
  • Evaluate guest satisfaction levels with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Regularly review, evaluate, and respond to customer satisfaction and/or dissatisfaction of the individual outlets; recommend new operating and marketing policies whenever a change in demand, customer dissatisfaction, or a change in competitive environment requires such changes.
  • Insure compliance with all hotel policies and procedures that relate to food and beverage, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop, discipline, counsel, and evaluate line employees according to the hotel policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget; develop short and long term financial operating plans.
  • Work within budgeted guidelines in relation to Food, Liquor Costs and Payroll
  • Attend mandatory meetings.
  • Utilize computer equipment to analyze forecast, cost, and revenue reports and make decisions based on that information to ensure maximizing of profits.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which inspire Team Members to meet and exceed standards.

  • Manage guest queries in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner
