Tottenham keeping an eye on ‘unstoppable’ Leeds target, club want between £15m and £20m

Leeds United are desperate to bring in a replacement for Crysencio Summerville and want to do it soon, but one player on the Elland Road radar is also being watched by Tottenham Hotspur.

Summerville, 22, joined West Ham on a five-year deal earlier this month. Leeds’ seventh permanent sale, the Netherlands U21 star has joined the Hammers for an initial £25m fee plus add-ons this summer.

Having lost Jaidon Anthony and Ian Poveda already this summer – Anthony returned to Bournemouth while Poveda has joined Sunderland on a free – Leeds are now left with just two recognised wingers.

Only Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto remain, and the latter could still depart. Brenden Aaronson and Georginio Rutter can play on the flanks but they are preferred as attacking midfielders in this Leeds side.

 

Leeds want to sign Jonathan Rowe from Norwich City

As it has been widely reported, Leeds are planning on a deal to sign 21-year-old Jonathan Rowe from Daniel Farke’s old side Norwich. They are said to have submitted a £7m initial offer, likely to be rejected.

Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Leeds want to do a deal for less than £10m, and that Norwich are open to his exit. His contract ends in 2025, even though Norwich can trigger an extension.

It is unclear if Leeds are to pursue a deal for the “unstoppable” Rowe and make a second offer, or move on to other targets with the new season now firmly in view as Portsmouth come to town on Saturday.

Tottenham keeping tabs on Rowe as Norwich price tag revealed

A report from The Chronicle’s paper edition (07/08, p46 &47) say that Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Rowe for a number of months and could look to rival Farke’s side in the race to land Rowe’s signature.

Norwich are said to actually rate Rowe at a massive £15m to £20m for the versatile attacker. A huge fee for a player that is still largely unproven, though he did score a huge 12 Championship goals last season.

It is unclear what will happen in the next few days regarding Rowe, as Leeds push to land the star who was left impressed by Elland Road having first faced Leeds in the Premier League in a 2-1 defeat.
