Tottenham enter race for 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder targeted by three Premier League rivals

Tottenham Hotspur are actively pursuing Stade de Reims midfielder Amir Richardson as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

The 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Everton, Brentford, and Leicester City. Spurs are reportedly preparing to compete with them for a potential deal valued at approximately £8.5 million, according to HITC.

Richardson has emerged as one of the standout performers in Ligue 1, with his impressive performances last season making him a top target for Tottenham.

His consistent displays have highlighted his potential, making him a priority for Spurs as they look to bolster their midfield options.

The French-American midfielder began his career at OGC Nice before moving to Le Havre AC. In September 2022, Richardson signed with Reims but was loaned back to Le Havre for the 2022-23 season.

His loan spell was highly successful, contributing significantly to Le Havre’s Ligue 2 championship win and earning a place in the UNFP Team of the Year.

Last season, Richardson made 28 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring three goals and further showcasing his abilities at the top level of French football.

His performances have drawn significant interest, underscoring his potential as a valuable addition to any squad.

While Tottenham have recently added Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to their midfield, securing a box-to-box midfielder like Richardson could provide manager Ange Postecoglou with a unique and valuable option.

Richardson’s versatility and skill set align with Tottenham’s needs, potentially enhancing their midfield strength and depth.
