- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the National Population Commission (NPC) have sought the assistance of NYSC in order to register 12.7 million births in 2023. This initiative involves issuing birth certificates for children under the age of 5, which will include their names and nationality. The registration efforts will cover 21 states, encompassing 456 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 4,978 wards across the country.
- The primary aim of this partnership is to provide the benefits of birth registration to at least 12 million children under the age of 5 in Nigeria. The terms of the collaboration are focused on achieving this objective.
