  • As the crisis has persisted, Mercy Corps’ strategy has also expanded to address the root causes of the conflict and seek to build the long term resilience of communities with integrated programs focusing on governance, the recovery of markets and livelihoods, social cohesion and social protection, youth empowerment, and local conflict management.

General Position Summary

  • The Procurement Department is committed to implementing and maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and integrity in the purchase of goods and services.
  • The overriding objective for all Mercy Corps procurement activity is the prompt and effective provision of materials and services to Mercy Corps’ beneficiary populations in compliance with donor specifications.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Update on-going PR Master list with all assigned purchase requests and share with program team on a weekly basis
  • Printing Purchase Requests (PRs) in coordination with Operations Manager and Senior Procurement Officer; ensuring that PR is given to the originator for appropriate signatures
  • Collects quotations and bids from the market for PR-s as assigned by the manager – as per Mercy Corps standards and formats;
  • Interact with vendors during the collection of quotations – explain Mercy Corps formats and ensure that vendors will use the provided
  • Update Completed PR Master list with all assigned
  • Update contract tracking sheet on a weekly basis
  • Preparing payments for all assigned procurement
  • File completed transactions as necessary
  • Assist the Operations Manager and office staff with procurement activities, as required;
  • Identify assets during the course of procurement and notify the Asset Controller on receipts of

General Position Summary

  • This position is based in Biu with major responsibility in supporting the teams in record retention, initiating procurement requests, the focal point for documentation, securing approvals for the Rural Resilience Activity in Borno, assisting the Intervention officers in day-to-day tasks.
  • He/she will be responsible for submitting timely reports to the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR) on monthly basis.

Essential Job Functions

  • The focal point for Rural Resilience Activity documentation retention in compliance to PM@MC minimum standard and manage the documentation of the sector for audit and donor compliance.
  • Liaise with finance, OPS and Rural Resilience Activity offices to provide necessary program-related documentation when required.
  • Maintaining all documentation relating to Rural Resilience Activity required ensuring accountability to the participants and donors.
  • Oversee administrative matters this include drafting of service contracts for service providers, daily hire staff, tracking service contract expirations, renewals and closing the contracts.
  • Assisting in organizing internal and external meetings for the Rural Resilience Activity.
  • Folder management to keep program staff updated on all documents and make it possible for them to easily access required documents in google drive and/or team drive
  • Photo Management for Rural Resilience Activity, documenting lessons learnt and success stories.

  • This role will support and monitor the USAID funded Feed the Future Nigeria Rural Resilience Activity – Strengthening Market Systems to build resilience in North-East Nigeria.
  • This will ensure long-term improvement to markets that will sustainably move over 90,000 households out of chronic poverty.
  • The consortium is using a resilience-focused market systems development (MSD) approach to sustainably transform the North-East by strengthening and integrating markets.
  • This will restore and enhance social capital and trust, among stakeholders particularly at-risk populations such as women and youth, to engage in the markets.
  • The Activity will be implemented through a Consortium led by Mercy Corps with support from IFDC and Save the Children across the states of Adamawa, Gombe, Borno and Yobe in North-East Nigeria.
  • RRA will facilitate economic recovery and growth in vulnerable, conflict-affected areas by promoting systemic change in market systems.
  • Under the direction of the MRM Officer, the MRM Intern will provide support to the project team learning and reflection processes, leading discussion on participant’s feedback.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist program team to ensure Rural Resilience Activity progress according to the developed schedule and the implementation work plan.
  • Assist Intervention Officers in developing monitoring plans for intervention with private sector actors within their market actors.
  • Assist program strategies by providing data on intervention performance in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support intervention officers in gathering relevant information of their various interventions, identifying knowledge gaps and developing strategies to fill those gaps.
  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly reports and participate in regular check-ins to update the Rural Resilience Activity program on current developments happening in and around the interventions areas in the Market System.
  • Support the Monitoring functions in the implementation of relevant surveys, assessments, data collection etc. for on-going monitoring and reporting.
  • Assist documentation and filing of Means of Verification for program data.

  • Housing in the field will be in hotels. Security in the field locations requires additional vigilance and accessibility will be reassessed continuously.
  • The location is not eligible for hardship and R&R benefits. Given the nature of the response, working hours require flexibility and working through weekends/evenings might be necessary.

  • The position will be based in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria and requires frequent travel to other field locations as well as Abuja. Considering the frequent travel from/to different field locations, this position will require flexibility in terms of accommodation and logistics.
  • Access to good medical services in the field is limited. Phone communication, internet, electricity and water is available but might be erratic.
  • The location is not eligible for hardship and R&R benefits.
  • Given the nature of the response, working hours require flexibility and working through weekends/evenings might be necessary.
  • Housing in the field will be in hotels or guesthouses where available.
  • Security in the field locations requires additional vigilance and accessibility will be reassessed continuously.
