Job Title: Head of Internal Control
Location: Nigeria
Job Roles/Responsibilities
- Implementing, directing and overseeing the auditing and compliance programs.
- Conducts and directs audits and ongoing reviews of organization controls, operating procedures, and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Reviews and appraises the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of accounting and financial controls, compliance procedures and controls and timeliness of documentation generation.
- Assesses the adequacy and extent of programmes designed to safeguard assets.
- Compiles and issues reports, detailing conclusions and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Directs and appraises the activities of audit and compliance personnel.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree, with relevant professional certification; a master’s degree is added advantage.
- At least ten (10) years cognate experience, five of which must be as head of Internal Control in a well-structured organization.
- Solid understanding and experience with internal control frameworks
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to spot, assess and address risk, materiality and inter dependencies and translate it into impact analysis for the financial reporting and recommendations for improvement
- Ability to clearly present internal control and risk matters, with right level of details, at various levels of the university.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including sound presentational skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team, and adaptability.
