James Maddison has just reacted to the news Dominic Solanke has signed for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have now announced the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth on a six-year deal.

A whole year on from Harry Kane’s departure, Tottenham have finally brought in a striker to try and replace the goals left behind by the England captain.

The deal to bring the 26-year-old striker to N17 from Bournemouth is believed to cost in the region of £55m with a potential further £10m being sent in add-ons.

Spurs have endured a frustrating summer when it comes to their striker department with Richarlison watching on from the sidelines.

The Brazilian has been unable to recover in time for the pre-season friendlies this summer after sustaining a significant injury last season.

However, Spurs now have their new striker onboard who will take the pressure off Richarlison in playing every single game.

Tottenham announced the signing of Solanke shortly after lunch time on Saturday afternoon.

The club confirmed his signing with an animated video which was very much in keeping with the striker’s celebrations and videos on his own social media platforms.

Spurs midfielder James Maddison shared his delight on Instagram as he posted on his story following the official announcement.

Maddison posted an image on his Instagram story of their pair’s England youth shirts next to each other in a dressing room with two smiling emojis.

James Maddison and Dominic Solanke to form fresh partnership

Clearly, the pair have history having played together in England’s youth setup over the years.

Maddison played alongside Solanke during their time in Aidy Boothroyd’s England U21 side between 2017 and 2019.

And having a player of Solanke’s calibre is going to have Maddison desperate for the new season to start as he will already be thinking about the assists he can provide the striker.

Despite it being an injury riddled season, Maddison provided Tottenham with nine assists whilst Solanke provided Bournemouth with 19 goals in the league.

What a duo these two could become!
