Applications are now open for the Women in DeFi Summit Laptop Scholarship 2026, an initiative designed to support African women building careers in Web3, blockchain, and decentralized finance (DeFi) by providing access to essential digital tools.
With the theme “Beyond the Bridge: African Women Leading the Future of Web3,” the program aims to remove one of the biggest barriers to entry in tech—access to a personal laptop—while connecting participants to a thriving ecosystem of innovators and professionals.
Why This Opportunity Matters
Across Africa, many talented women are eager to explore opportunities in blockchain, DeFi, and Web3, but are limited by lack of access to basic tools like laptops.
This gap not only slows individual growth but also reduces female representation in emerging technologies shaping the future of finance and digital ownership.
This scholarship addresses that challenge by equipping participants with the tools, exposure, and network needed to learn, build, and compete globally.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be female and based in Africa
- Be actively involved in the Web3 ecosystem (as learners, builders, or contributors)
- Demonstrate a genuine need for a laptop
- Show strong commitment to building a career in blockchain or related fields
- Be available to attend the summit physically in Lagos
- Possess a valid means of identification
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Demonstrated need
- Level of involvement in Web3
- Growth potential
- Quality and sincerity of responses
