Applications are now open for the AYuTe Africa Challenge Nigeria 2026, a programme designed to support youth-led agritech startups developing innovative solutions to transform agriculture in Nigeria.
The initiative is led by Heifer International and implemented by Wennovation Hub. It focuses on identifying and supporting technology-driven agricultural enterprises that improve the productivity and livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
Selected startups will receive mentorship, increased visibility, and the opportunity to compete for a grand prize of $40,000 to scale their innovations.
Programme Overview
The AYuTe Africa Challenge is aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs who are using technology to address critical challenges in agriculture. These include low productivity, climate-related risks, limited access to information, and labour-intensive farming practices.
By supporting innovative agritech solutions, the programme seeks to enhance farmers’ incomes, improve efficiency, and promote sustainable agricultural development across Nigeria.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application
- Be Nigerian citizens with valid identification
- Be founders or co-founders of an agritech startup
- Present innovative, technology-driven agricultural solutions
- Demonstrate that their solution addresses real-world challenges
- Provide financial records or statements for the business
- Have no criminal record related to corruption
- Show potential for partnerships and scalability
Business Requirements
Eligible startups are expected to:
- Be registered with relevant government authorities in Nigeria
- Demonstrate capacity to scale and impact smallholder farmers
- Provide evidence of impact or traction
- Show potential for job creation and poverty reduction
- Align with national priorities and frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Solutions submitted should:
