£42m Tottenham and Arsenal target Desire Doue decides new club, it impacts Jadon Sancho’s future

HITC understands that Rennes star Desire Doue has made his decision on which club he is joining this summer.

The 19-year-old has attracted huge interest across Europe and had plenty of offers on the table.

Rennes allowed Desire Doue to make his decision on his next club and he held extensive talks with Bayern Munich and PSG, while a host of Premier League clubs also threw their names into the hat.

Tottenham had shown the most interest of the Premier League sides, but Doue was also on the radar of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

As revealed by HITC, Bayern Munich made the first move for the teenager with a £29million bid but Rennes valued Doue closer to £42million (€50million).

Doue has now informed Rennes which club he is set to join and it is not good news for Arsenal or Tottenham fans.

Desire Doue makes transfer decision

HITC understands that Desire Doue has told Rennes that he is joining Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

He shunned interest from England and made it clear that the Premier League was not his favoured next move.

Doue preferred to stay in France and has now decided to commit to a move to PSG.

Rennes have already moved to replace Doue by agreeing terms with Birmingham City for exciting midfielder Jordan James.

HITC revealed on Friday that Rennes had won the race to sign Jordan James ahead of the likes of Leicester and Southampton.

Desire Doue transfer could impact Jadon Sancho

HITC understands that Doue’s move to the Parc Des Princes could have a knock-on effect for the future of Jadon Sancho.

After falling out with Erik ten Hag last season, Sancho has returned to Manchester this summer but there are still question marks over his future at the club.

Paris Saint-Germain have shown an interest in Sancho this summer but HITC understands their interest in him will not progress any further after Doue’s decision to join them.

Arsenal and Tottenham have introduced tougher wage control than some of their ‘Big Six’ rivals in the Premier League.

We are still talking about astronomical figures and the Premier League duo are both big spenders in the transfer market, but they like to keep a tighter grip on their wage structure compared to their biggest rivals.

The Gunners have added David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori to their squad this summer, while Tottenham have invested in young duo Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall alongside the marquee signing of Dominic Solanke.

HITC revealed on Friday that Tottenham Hotspur had agreed a club-record deal of £65million for Solanke.

Both North London rivals are still in the market for more attacking reinforcements, and both have been linked to out-of-favour Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa’s agent visited London earlier this month but left empty-handed despite Arsenal and Spurs having held talks over a potential move.

Winger wage demands revealed

Chiesa has held crunch talks with Juventus this summer and looks set to move on from the Serie A giants.

He has attracted plenty of interest from around Europe, including Turkish club Besiktas, who explored a potential deal.

However, Huseyin Yucel, the vice-president of Besiktas, has now revealed they have dropped out of the race because of Chiesa’s wage demands.

Via Corriere Dello Sport, Yucel said “It’s true that we’ve been talking about Federico Chiesa for about 10 days”.

“I would like to point out that the player has a salary expectation of around 9million euros (£7.7million), with Juve’s request settling at around 15million (£13million).

“Currently, seven clubs are on his trail, but the requests are not logical and it is not possible for us to satisfy them, therefore from today the player is no longer on Besiktas’ agenda.”
